How much will AI transform football analysis in the coming years?

How much will AI transform football analysis in the coming years?
Will it replace the people behind the screens?
The direction seems clear. AI is already here and moving fast.
Today, modern football data collection already reaches impressive levels of automation:
• Up to 80–95% automation in player tracking through computer vision
• Tracking systems capturing 22 players and the ball up to 25 times per second
• Over 3,000 data events collected in a single match
These technologies are rapidly improving how we understand the game.
And yet football is not an exact science.
Context, tactical interpretation and decision-making still require something AI struggles with: true football understanding.
Many of the most valuable insights still come from analysts and football specialists who can interpret the game beyond the pixels and coordinates.
So perhaps the real question is not AI vs humans.
The real question is:
How powerful can football analysis become when AI and football expertise work together?
Can the human factor survive in the future football analytics business?
